The Small Business Friendly Councils Program is a first for Australia, giving councils willing to make small business a priority, the opportunity to be recognised as „Small Business Friendly‟, Allan Zreik President of the Hurstville Chamber of commerce said “there are currently 67 local councils that are part of the program, Hurstville Council is not one of them, I recently wrote to General Manager of Hurstville City Council and have had discussions with Mayor Hindi as well and requested they partake in the program”
“The program is the creation of NSW Business Chamber Northern Rivers, Regional Manager, John Murray, who‟s frustration of the disconnect between small business and local government.
Allan said “that if local government wants more successful businesses they need to streamline the process and ensure business are not bogged down in red tape”
Hurstville Chamber is committed to ensuring new and existing businesses have a streamlined process when they want to set up or expand their businesses in Hurstville, Allan said we are interested to hear from businesses that feel the process through Hurstville council was challenging.
