The St George Business Chamber will now be called Business Chamber South in a move which will see it expanding its footprint across all Bayside.
The name change comes after Business Chamber South was recently approved to operate as a regional chamber by Business NSW.
"Our transition to Business Chamber South marks a pivotal moment in our history," Business Chamber South President ,Tony Baddour said.
"This strategic name change reflects our expanded mission to support and represent businesses across both the Georges River and Bayside local government areas (LGAs)," he said.
"This rebranding is more than just a name change; it symbolises our commitment to broadening our reach and enhancing the value we provide to our members.
"By representing both the Georges River and Bayside LGAs, we are better positioned to facilitate growth, advocate effectively, and provide unparalleled support to businesses in our region.
"With our new identity, members can look forward to expanded networking opportunities. Our members will have access to a larger, more diverse network of businesses, fostering stronger connections and collaborations.
"They will have enhanced advocacy. We will continue to advocate for the interests of our members, now with a more robust and united voice across the Georges River and Bayside LGAs.
"Members will benefit from an increased number of events designed to support business growth, knowledge sharing, and community engagement."
This will start with the Southern Sydney Skills and Jobs Expo organised by Business Chamber South in partnership with Local Jobs Network and Skills NSW.
The expo will take place on August 29, 2024, at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah and will seek to bring together job seekers, employers, and educators to explore opportunities, build skills, and strengthen the local workforce.
Business Chamber South will also collaborate with Bayside Council to deliver three networking activities for local businesses across the Bayside Local Government Area.
"The Chamber formerly operated as St George Business Chamber and has an established presence in Georges River Council and parts of Bayside's western suburbs," a council report to Bayside's City Services Committee Stated.
"The board of Business NSW recently approved expansion to cover Georges River and Bayside Council LGAs in response to an expressed need from Bayside businesses.
"To support this expansion, the Chamber has sought to collaborate with Bayside Council by way of three events: Mascot Networking - a proposed meet and greet opportunity for locally based businesses in the Botany-Mascot area to network and identify opportunities; Rockdale Networking for locally based businesses in the Rockdale area; a Business Breakfast during Small Business Month, featuring a keynote speaker and networking opportunities for Bayside businesses."
Business Chamber South has also expanded its board to allow additional executives from member businesses in Bayside - two members from Bayside's western suburbs and two members from Bayside's eastern suburbs.
