Business Chamber South is led by local business owners across retail, manufacturing, professional services and other industries. Our leaders understand the real challenges and opportunities of doing business in the St George and Bayside region. The committee is committed to strengthening business and community relationships and advocating for fair and practical outcomes at all levels of government.

The Chamber was formed through the 2016 amalgamation of several long-standing business chambers, including the respected Hurstville Chamber of Commerce. Our organisation was reshaped to reflect how businesses operate today, beyond outdated boundaries and with a unified focus on supporting the wider Sydney South business community.

Moving Forward

The Chamber’s history dates back to 1922 as the Hurstville Chamber of Commerce, and our future continues to grow stronger.

The St George region spans two local councils and includes major NSW Government infrastructure such as roads and public transport. The Chamber works to inform and advocate on behalf of local businesses at every level of government, ensuring the issues that affect business growth, prosperity and in some cases survival are clearly understood.

By joining the Chamber, you add strength to our collective voice. Local issues rarely affect only one business. When we stand together, we create real impact for our community.

Why join the Chamber?

Business Chamber South brings businesses together to strengthen our local economy, activate our communities, and create places where people feel connected, supported, and included. Membership places your business at the heart of a thriving network committed to sustainable growth and positive community impact.

Community & Connection

Our events, workshops, and community activations create meaningful opportunities to connect with local businesses, new residents, and partners across the region. Whether you’re attending a skills workshop, a networking event, or a community celebration, you’re building relationships that support collaboration and long‑term success.

Advocacy That Represents You

Your voice matters. As a member, you gain a strong advocate that represents local business needs to government, industry bodies, and key decision‑makers. We champion fair, practical policy change and ensure the realities of small business are heard and understood.

Visibility leads to credibility

Being part of the Chamber elevates your presence in the local business community. Engaging in events, initiatives, and leadership opportunities increases your visibility — and with visibility comes credibility. Membership signals that your business is committed to contributing to a vibrant, resilient local economy.

2026-2027 Strategic Plan

Business Chamber South’s 2026–2027 Strategic Plan sets out our commitment to building thriving communities and a resilient local economy. Our purpose is clear: to strengthen our local economy by supporting businesses, activating our communities, and advocating for a fair, inclusive, and sustainable business environment.

The plan is built around four strategic pillars that guide everything we do:

  • Community Activation – creating vibrant, safe, and inclusive places through events, partnerships, and public‑space activation.
  • Economic Development – supporting sustainable growth, local investment, and long‑term economic resilience.
  • Business Support – equipping businesses with the skills, networks, and resources they need to succeed.
  • Advocacy – championing fair, practical policy change that reflects the realities of local business.

These pillars are underpinned by our cross‑cutting principles of inclusion, collaboration, sustainability, and impact, ensuring our work delivers tangible benefits for both businesses and the broader community.
